At Home with during - Cov-19 Pandemic

Welcome to work and live from. Home life, where deadlines are made up and pants and Hijab is not an issue!!

I’ve been a full-time business woman for years while raising a family and pursuing my dreams and aspirations and doing major self care!! It’s safe to say while I have made mistakes, I learned a lot of those experiences and joys or hacks along the way.

Now that we are ALL in this pants-less adventure together, it’s a great time to pass on some of some of my wisdom. Some you will ask for and some you did not ask for.

First, the most basic + common advice because IT’S IMPORTANT to understand.

#1 - KEEP YOUR ROUTINES THE SAME

Wake up the same time you did before, don’t sleep the day away. Wake up, pray, put on your clothes and do your normal morning routine. We thrive on routine and consistency from environmental cues, don’t change those. If you do not have a routine or schedule, write one down consistency is everything!

#2 - KEEP YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE STRONG

Instead of going to sleep after praying (or meditating if that is what you do) use that time to read something spiritual and rejuvenate your self. Do something you haven’t been doing recently or forgot how to do. Memorize versus or study your religion.

#3 SEPARATE WORK + HOME LIFE

If possible, set up a dedicated workspace so that you can physically separate yourself and your work from family life. Equally, keep work time for work and don’t try to mix the two, this will keep you productive. Its so tempting to say, “Hey let me just throw some laundry in the washing machine.” DON’T DON'T JUST DO SOMETHING AND STAY FOCUSED and live intentionally!!

#4 USE TIME BLOCKING

Set a timer on your phone or computer for focused work, where you are only doing ONE thing, not multitasking. This helps with distractions and task killing!! Once the timer is up, you get to reward yourself with a mini break to stretch your legs, workout, eat a snack, kiss your horses etc (whatever you are into but plan this)

#5 EAT NUTRIENT DENSE FOODS

My pet peeve as a wellness coach is that I constantly hear women say, “I eat healthy.” And usually this tells me they know nothing or very little about what this is. it’s super easy to end up snacking all day when the kitchen is so close, but your brain and body will thank you when you nourish it with real nutrient dense foods. Try to stick to regular meals, full of vegetables, complete carbs and organic halal meat when you are sincerely hungry.

#5 MAKE FITNESS A PRIORITY IN YOUR LIFE

My pet peeve as a personal trainer is that I constantly hear women say, “I'll start tomorrow.” Yet being strong and healthy is not a choice. Try to sneak in any kind of movement in your day. Your. joints and body functions were not made to be sedentary. Life and privileges have making us more and more unhealthy. GET MOVING!!

I’ve got a lot more tricks up my sleeve, but this should be a great start for you #begratefulandgrind
